Bill Barron was a jazz tenor and soprano tenor saxophonist. The elder brother of pianist Kenny Barron, who appears on all of his brother's recordings as leader, Bill Barron first appeared on a Cecil Taylor recording in 1959. As well as recording extensively with Philly Joe Jones, Barron co-led a post-bop quartet with Ted Curson. Other musicians he recorded with included Charles Mingus and Ollie Shearer.
